National Reporting & SoNaRR

To facilitate use of GMEP data in SoNaRR, we present new analyses of national monitoring data which has been co-developed with SoNaRR technical leads at Natural Resources Wales (NRW).

This review documents some of the evidence collected within Designated Landscapes (DL) in Wales. It identifies areas of commonalities and of differences or gaps in monitoring, and to encourage a collaborative approach to ongoing and future monitoring by identifying data and modelling outputs of ERAMMP and GMEP.

This review scopes the opportunities for exploiting species distribution data held by the Wales LERC for a range of evidence needs and monitoring activities addressed by ERAMMP.

This briefing note explores the possibility of developing an indicator not based solely on priority species but recognises that there are, in addition to many threatened taxa, a wide range of common species more likely to be seen and heard by people and which, by virtue of being common and often being abundant where present, play a major role in the delivery of ecosystem services.

This report outlines how ERAMMP plans to reduce the number of survey squares from the 300 surveyed in GMEP. Note: this report has since been updated with a new assessment following the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the National Field Survey. See Report 58.

This report supports the SoNaRR report due in 2020, it was agreed with NRW that data would be re-analysed using the likely reporting structure for ecosystems in SoNaRR. Note the wok conducted in this report has since been updated in the ERAMMP Report 30: GMEP re-analysis for SoNaRR2020.

Would the expansion of cultivated crops on Welsh farms be an effective mechanism for improving the resilience of farm businesses and for reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions? This report reviews greenhouse gas emissions from arable crops, and then examines the specific issue of the effects of soya bean meal imports on animal nutrition, and what the alternatives are. Soya bean meal has become an essential component of feed for high yielding dairy cattle, pigs and poultry due to the types of proteins and amino acids it contains. The possibility of growing these alternatives in Wales is discussed, assessing greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts
