Biodiversity supports the functioning of healthy and resilient ecosystems.

It boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no matter how small, all have an important role to play. In Wales through ERAMMP, the monitoring and modelling of biodiversity supports policy and management decisions to ensure a natural, sustainable and resilient landscape for future generations.

This briefing note explores the possibility of developing an indicator not based solely on priority species but recognises that there are, in addition to many threatened taxa, a wide range of common species more likely to be seen and heard by people and which, by virtue of being common and often being abundant where present, play a major role in the delivery of ecosystem services.

SFS Evidence Review: Improved farmland

Complementing ERAMMP Report 4: SFS Evidence Review Annex 4 Building Ecosystem Resilience, which had the remit to focus on management interventions that will deliver broadscale improvements in the biodiversity related features - but specifically excluded improved farmland. This review now undertakes an evidence review based on the same brief, but this time to focus solely on improved land.
